Who usually sends which funeral flowers
Spouse, children or immediate family: the casket spray, and often an arrangement for the urn or memorial table.
Grandchildren and close relatives: standing sprays, wreaths or a heart tribute.
Friends: a standing spray, a service arrangement, or flowers or a plant for the family's home.
Coworkers, companies and groups: a larger standing spray signed from the whole team.
Every family is different. If the obituary says "in lieu of flowers," a small arrangement for the home or a donation to the named charity is a respectful choice.
Funeral flower delivery timing
Arrive before the visitation. Flowers should be in place before the visitation or wake begins, so the family sees them as guests arrive.
Order a day ahead when you can. This gives our designers time to source the exact flowers and colors for larger pieces like casket sprays.
Same-day delivery. Order by [1 PM], Monday to Friday, for same-day delivery to Houston funeral homes. On Saturday, order early in the morning; our shop is open 7 to 11 AM.
Monday services. Our shop is closed on Sunday, so for a Monday morning service, order by Saturday morning.
Graveside services. We usually deliver to the funeral home, which takes the flowers to the cemetery. Tell us if the service is graveside only.

What to write on a funeral flower card
Keep it short and sincere. Some messages families tell us they appreciated:
From family: "Forever in our hearts. With all our love."
From a friend: "With deepest sympathy. [Name] will be dearly missed."
From coworkers: "With heartfelt condolences from your friends at [company]."
For a celebration of life: "Celebrating a life beautifully lived."

Funeral flower customs in Houston
Houston families come from many traditions. Flowers are a central part of Catholic, Protestant and Hispanic funeral services, including rosaries and velorios. In Buddhist and Vietnamese services, white and soft yellow flowers are common. In Jewish tradition, flowers are usually not sent to the funeral or shiva home, and many Muslim families prefer other gestures, such as food for the family. When you are unsure, ask the family or the funeral home, or call us and we will help.
Funeral Flowers Houston FAQs
Do you deliver funeral flowers to Houston funeral homes?
Yes. Floral Concepts delivers funeral flowers to funeral homes, churches and cemeteries across Houston and nearby cities, and coordinates directly with the funeral home on timing.
Can I get same-day funeral flower delivery in Houston?
Yes. Order by [1 PM], Monday to Friday, for same-day delivery. On Saturday, order early in the morning. We are closed on Sunday.
How early should funeral flowers arrive?
Before the visitation or service begins. Order at least a day ahead for large pieces such as casket sprays.
Who should send the casket spray?
The casket spray is traditionally chosen by the spouse, children or immediate family.
What funeral flowers should a friend or coworker send?
A standing spray or an arrangement for the service is the most common choice. Groups often share the cost of a larger standing spray.
What information do you need to deliver funeral flowers?
The name of the person who passed, the funeral home or church name, the service date and time, and your card message.
Do you make flowers for cremation services?
Yes. We design urn arrangements and memorial pieces that surround an urn or photo.
What colors are appropriate for funeral flowers?
White and cream are traditional. Soft pink, lavender and peach are also appropriate. Red roses are often sent by a spouse or close family. Bright colors suit a celebration-of-life service.
Can I send flowers if I cannot attend the funeral?
Yes. You can send flowers to the service, or send sympathy flowers or a plant to the family's home, even weeks later.
What does "in lieu of flowers" mean?
It means the family has asked for donations to a charity instead of flowers. A small arrangement for the home is still a kind gesture, but follow the family's wishes first.
